The Signal Path: Home of Live Hardware Electronic Music

September 2026 - '909-1000' (TR-909 Day).

From TR-909 legacy to the future of the TR-1000.

This 909 Day, Signal Path, Stable Music and Roland come together at Howler for a night celebrating the 909 that helped shape electronic music, with plenty of live performances and improvised techno jams

Featuring a live 909 performance set with @honeysmack, plus a one-off collaborative improv jam from Mr. Rachele, T3J, SKLTN JCKT and Jani Ho.

Date: 9th of September, 6-9pm.

Howler Theatre room. (Back room) Entry is FREE!

First hour - Synth meet. Bring in a piece of gear, share and chat hardware. (Instructions in last paragraph). Bonus points for Roland gear and anything TR related.

Then - A pure live house music set on the TR-1000 by the one and only Binofski. After DJing house for decades, Leroy turns his skills and deft ear to creating a live house set on a machine built for live electronic music performance.

Followed by - Live TR Jam. Live improvised TR techno jam with Jani Ho, Skltn Jckt, T3J and Mr. Rachele.

These four artists love their techno almost as much as they love their Roland TR's. Jani and Skltn Jckt will slam the percussion with a trusty pair of TR-8S's while T3J & Mr. Rachele play with the future on a pair of TR-1000's. Expect some chaos and motion. Never to be heard again!

Prior to the jam Mr. Rachele chats to our artist about what they love about their respective machines, and about what he loves about his new TR-1000.

Last hour - Honeysmack presents TR-909!

Combining punchy analog drums with crisp, sharply defined hi-hats and cymbals yielded a potent collection of sounds. On their own, they didn’t really fit into the genres of the day—for example, the kick drum and toms sounded too powerful to come from an acoustic kit. And yet, as the TR-909 seemed to blend really well into a mix and as producers explored new sonic territories, the TR-909 would be slowly incorporated into the emerging blueprints for house and techno.

David Habberfeld takes us on a little history journey and expresses his love for this unique machine and it's future iterations.

Note it's 'burger night' at Howler. Good quality cheap burger and a beer.

See you there.

The Signal Path synth meet is a safe space. Zero tolerance on discrimination, harassment or any other emotional or physical harm. Dickheads will be shown the door. Please notify bar staff of any discretions.

6-7pm - Synth meet & share.

7-8pm - Binfoski live followed by TR Jam.

8-9pm - Honeysmack presents TR-909.

Big thanks to Kevin of Stable Music and Roland Australia for making this day possible, Howler for providing us with this space.

Instructions on the synth share:

Every synth meet, in the first hour, it's 'bring a synth to share'. It can be anything from a groovebox, drum machine, synth or any electronic music making box. Feel free to play with all the synths in the room, except for the live jam setup (should be in the middle of the room). There is a strictly "no drink over synths" policy. Unless it's your synth, in which case it's at your own risk! If you do plan on bringing gear (of any description) please get in touch so we make sure there is ample table space. Bring a pair of headphones as well please. Patrons also feel free to bring your own pair of headphones if that makes you more comfortable.
