The Signal Path: Home of Live Hardware Electronic Music

Sonus Biota - Round 1 @Radio Bar (Presented by Machines Don't Judge & TSP)

Where: Radio Bar, 357 Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

When: Saturday 14th of November. Live acts from 5pm-1am.

Sonus Biota is a collaboration between Machines Don't Judge and The Signal Path, created as a place of true expression for Naarm's live electronic musicians. No genre or dress codes. Just good vibes and great original music.

But what exactly is Sonus Biota? Sonus — Latin for sound, noise, tone, pitch and the distinctive character of a voice. Biota — derived from the Ancient Greek biotē, meaning way of life, from bios, meaning life.

Together, an ecosystem of organic living sound begins to emerge. An environment where sonic species thrive, strange creatures come out to play and musical habitats evolve throughout the night. Some are experimental, some are glitchy, others pray to the gods of the groove and some are forever ferocious.

Our journey follows the linear geometry of the letter W.

We'll start with a bang as Made In Space kicks things into motion, then descend into the sublime experimental habitats of Artpunk and David Prescott-Steed, before Lincoln Webber attempts to disrupt the ecosystem with some unruly glitch. Neko Devyn will restore balance with some seriously groovy coolness, before Mr. Rachele brings out the hard edge of the groove. Be drawn in and hypnotised by Caity Watson, then Shay Doe will lead us to the final ascent with a pumping dose of hard techno. So whether you're nocturnal, diurnal or just plain confused, there's a habitat here for you.

Sonus Biota. Brought to you by the letter W, the number 909, and the seriously questionable science of electronic music ecology.

Our artists will be at eye level. Please respect their space, and watch your drinks! Use of phones is permitted but please be respectful of other patrons and please no flash photography or lights from phones. This event is a safe space. Zero tolerance on discrimination, harassment or any other emotional or physical harm. Please advise bar staff if there are any concerns.

TSP & MDG acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which we will be meeting, and to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
